Update, 8 November 2026: the squad voice recordings are now in the game, along with online squads, six-squad matches and more. See what is in the release build.
Today we are taking the covers off Ludo Fighters, a new game from Lacspace. The idea fits in one line: it is Ludo where every piece is a cartoon soldier and every capture is a short gun fight.
The same Ludo you know
We kept the board everyone grew up with. It is the standard 15 x 15 board with a 52-square track, home lanes for each colour and 8 safe stars: the four start squares plus four more. You need a 6 to leave base, you capture by landing exactly on an enemy, and you win by getting your squad home.
If you have played Ludo at a family table, you already know how to play.
The moment we changed
In classic Ludo, the biggest moment in the game, knocking a rival off the board, is a token picked up and dropped back in its corner. In Ludo Fighters it is a fight:
- Your soldier marches up and stops one square short of the enemy.
- Both soldiers raise their rifles.
- Three shots. The enemy is knocked out, with X eyes, and falls over.
- It vanishes in a puff of smoke and respawns at its base, and your soldier steps onto the square.
The whole thing takes about 1.3 seconds. Tap the board to skip it, or turn on fast animations to bring it down to about 0.8 seconds. Soldiers on a safe star carry a shield, so a shot just bounces off with a ricochet.
Four squads, four battlefields
There are four squads, Red, Green, Yellow and Blue, with four soldiers each. You fight on four battlefields: Jungle, Desert, Snowfield and Night Ops, a dark board where the home lanes glow.
Ways to play
- Quick battle: you against three Lumi AI squads, in one tap.
- Custom match: set each colour to a human, Lumi AI or off, for 2 to 4 players, with names, difficulty, battlefield and house rules.
- Pass & play: friends sharing one phone. In hot-seat, the far side's dice panel flips to face them.
Lumi AI is the computer opponent, with Easy, Normal and Hard levels. When you play solo, the board turns so your colour sits bottom-left, facing you.
House rules are switches, not arguments: needing a 6 to leave base, extra turns for a 6, for winning a fight and for getting a soldier home, three 6s forfeiting your turn, an exact roll to reach home, winning on the first soldier home or all four, and one die or two.
Cartoon only
There is no blood and no gore. Soldiers are knocked out and respawn. If anyone would rather skip the action, the Reduce motion setting skips the fights and hops.
When can I play?
Ludo Fighters is in development and coming soon to Google Play and the App Store. We have not set a release date. Squad voice callouts are written and wired into the game, and the recordings are being produced to arrive with launch.
You can ask to be notified and we will email you when it is live. Until then, we will keep writing these field reports as we build.
